DIAL A LIFT
Our Dial-A-Lift service supports individuals living in rural areas across Newry and Mourne who may feel isolated or unable to travel due to limited access to public or private transport. We provide safe, reliable door-to-door transport to help people stay independent and connected to their community.
The service can be used for a wide range of journeys, including shopping trips, social and recreational activities, medical appointments, and much more.
If you hold a Translink SmartPass you get two free trips a week.
To qualify for the service you must live in a rural area and become a member.
DATS
Disability Action Transport Scheme
DATS (Disability Action Transport Scheme) is a service delivered by Disability Action, providing reliable and accessible transport for people living in urban areas, including across Newry City. The scheme supports individuals who may have difficulty using public transport, helping them travel safely and confidently to appointments, shopping, work, and social activities while maintaining their independence and connection to the community.
To use this service, you must be a registered member and meet at least one of the following eligibility criteria:

Live in an urban area

Be registered blind

Be aged 80 or over

Receive the higher rate mobility component of Disability Living Allowance

Receive the higher rate care component of Disability Living Allowance

Receive the enhanced mobility rate of Personal Independence Payment (PIP)

Receive the higher rate care component of Attendance Allowance
Our fully accessible minibuses are specially designed to ensure safe, comfortable, and inclusive travel for all passengers. Each vehicle is equipped with wheelchair spaces, passenger lifts, and ramps to provide smooth access on and off the bus.
Group Hire
Our Group Hire service is available for non-profit voluntary and community organisations and groups, who must apply for membership with Newry and Mourne Community Transport Hire Services.
We offer your group the convenience of a professional, uniformed driver who holds a full D1 CPC Minibus Driving qualification along with MiDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) certification. All our drivers have been Access NI checked and undergo regular training in disability awareness, adult safeguarding, and first aid.
Alternatively, your group can nominate a volunteer to drive instead, provided they hold D1 category on a full UK driving licence and must be on the Newry and Mourne Community Transport list of approved drivers.
Our minibuses can accommodate between 9 and 16 passengers, including wheelchair users. Each vehicle is fully licensed and equipped with seat belts throughout. To ensure the highest safety standards, all our vehicles undergo regular maintenance and safety inspections every ten weeks, meeting MOT standards.
Groups are required to register and apply for membership before hiring our vehicles. An annual registration fee of £25 applies.
Rates:
