At Newry and Mourne Community Transport (NMCT), we are proud to support local voluntary and community groups by offering safe, reliable, and affordable Group Hire transport services.
Whether you're organising a day trip, attending a community event, or need regular transport for your members, our group hire scheme provides flexibility and peace of mind — all with the backing of a professional, community-focused service.
Who Can Use the Group Hire Service?
Our Group Hire service is exclusively available to non-profit voluntary and community organisations operating within the Newry and Mourne area. To access this service, your group must first apply for membership with NMCT Hire Services.
Annual registration fee: £25
Eligibility: Non-profit status and community-focused objectives
Once registered, your group can take advantage of our accessible minibuses and choose between two convenient driving options.
Two Options for Driving
1. NMCT-Provided Professional Driver
Take the hassle out of organising transport by using one of our highly qualified drivers. Our drivers are:
Fully trained and uniformed
Hold a full D1 CPC Minibus Driving Qualification
Certified under MiDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme)
Access NI checked
Regularly trained in:
Disability awareness
Adult safeguarding
Emergency first aid
You can rest assured that your group will be transported by someone who not only knows the roads but also understands the importance of safety, respect, and care for all passengers.
2. Use Your Own Nominated Volunteer Driver
Prefer to use someone from your own team? That’s no problem. Your nominated driver must:
Hold a full UK driving licence with D1 category
Be registered and approved as a driver with NMCT
This gives your group the freedom to schedule travel at your convenience, using someone already familiar to your members.
Our Minibuses – Accessible, Comfortable and Safe
NMCT’s modern fleet of minibuses can accommodate between 9 and 16 passengers, including wheelchair users. Each vehicle is:
Fully licensed
Equipped with seat belts throughout
Wheelchair accessible
Maintained to the highest safety standards
To ensure maximum safety and performance, our vehicles undergo:
Maintenance and safety inspections every ten weeks
Compliance with MOT standards
We place great emphasis on reliability and safety, because we know that your group deserves the best.
