At Newry and Mourne Community Transport, we understand that access to reliable and affordable transport is essential – no matter where you live. That’s why we’re proud to offer two dedicated services designed to support people across both urban and rural areas: Dial-A-Lift and DATS (Disability Action Transport Scheme).

Supporting Our Rural Communities: Dial-A-Lift

For those living outside of towns and cities, getting from A to B isn’t always straightforward. Public transport can be limited or even non-existent, and not everyone has access to a private vehicle. That’s where our Dial-A-Lift service comes in – providing a lifeline to residents in rural areas throughout the Newry and Mourne district.

Dial-A-Lift is available to members living in rural communities such as Warrenpoint, Rostrevor, Kilkeel, Annalong, Newtownhamilton, Crossmaglen, Rathfriland, and many more.

We offer door-to-door transport for members, helping them attend essential appointments, visit loved ones, do their shopping, and stay connected with their community. This service is more than just a means of travel – it’s about independence, inclusion, and quality of life.

We know how much this service matters, especially to people who would otherwise be isolated due to geography or a lack of personal transport options. That’s why we are committed to keeping our rural transport network strong and responsive.

Helping those in the City: DATS

We also recognise that urban living comes with its own challenges. Although Newry City has more public transport options, not everyone can use them easily. People with mobility issues, disabilities, or other health concerns often find it difficult to get around on their own – even for short journeys.

Our DATS service is specially designed for those living in Newry City who need a bit of extra help to travel. Whether it’s a trip to the doctor, the shops, or a social visit, our accessible vehicles and friendly drivers are here to make sure you get there comfortably and safely.

We’re here to bridge the gap and remove barriers to travel for those who need it most. Because everyone deserves the freedom to move around their community.
